This is our direct client opening for a Database Administrator located in Wakefield, MA. This is contract to hire or direct hire position and the salary offered is $80-90K. Our client is primarily interested in candidates who are local to the Boston, MA area.
Essential Functions: 100%
Disaster recovery planning and implementation.
Detect, troubleshoot and resolve database issues relating to integrity, performance, blocking and deadlocking, log shipping, database mirroring, database replication, connectivity & security. As well as other related CPU, memory, I/O and disk space resource contention problems.
Promote changes from development to production databases ensuring environment consistency.
Install, deploy, migrate, backup, restore and upgrade databases.
Handle data load requests from but not limited to XML, Text Files, Excel Worksheets, and other SQL Databases.
Create and troubleshoot SQL Server Agent jobs, monitor job activity, alerts, and error logs.
Communicate failures of SQL Agent, SSIS, and data load request to appropriate parties and participate in failure resolution.
Create SQL queries to generate reports from databases as requested.
Monitor and maintain server logins, roles, and credentials.
Troubleshoot data, database, and application problems.
Qualifications:
Consideration for the role of Database Administrator requires all of the following:
Bachelors Degree (or equivalent experience) in relevant field
MCDBA, MCTS SQL Server 2008, MCITP SQL Server 2008 are preferred but not required.
Minimum of 6 years of technical experience, with 2-4 years of MS SQL Server Database Administration experience
Experience supporting SQL Server in a production environment, including backup and recovery, corruption handling, high availability (mirroring, log shipping), replication, etc.
BI skills preferred, including ETL and DW design
Basic network knowledge (IP, ports, subnets)
Ability to think analytically and solve problems
Able to log, maintain and update accurate and detailed ticket information.
Working knowledge of SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, ETL processes, warehousing, and transactional data modeling.
Passing annual Introductory HIPAA examination. (Testing to be given annually in accordance with employee review.)
